Meet one of the cast

Hayley Nissen plays the role of Sukie Rougemont, one of the three witches. She is a seasoned performer beginning her time on stage at the young age of 4. This is her first role with JYM theatre co.

Can you explain a little about your character in the show?
Sukie is a naive, loveable, ray of sunshine. She is hilariously childlike at the ripe old age of 35, devotedly following her best friends Jane and Alexandra. She doesn’t think before she speaks, loves laughing and being silly and is extremely trusting. She is extremely “nebbish”, not minding one bit that she is an Eastwick outcast.

What similarities and differences do you have with your character?
Sukie and I like to ignore the bad side of life. Sukie would much prefer to be laughing at a cartoon than work on her journalism at the paper. I think I’m different to Sukie by the fact that I know that there is a time and a place for certain things. Sukie doesn’t.

How have you enjoyed playing her?
I have adored playing Sukie. She is so unique and comical that it has been an absolute pleasure creating her and stepping into her shoes. She makes me laugh.

What would you wish for?
The usual: a happy, healthy, prosperous life for me and all my loved ones…..and for a pony!

Who are your role models?
I am inspired by my fiance Josh Piterman. The most hardworking, loving, diligent performer I know. No-one is more deserving than he as he achieves everything he puts his mind to. He is truly inspiring to watch.

Tell us something that not many people know about you.
I can pick my nose with my tongue.
